ADAM HART – SMART GALLERY ARTIST OF THE MONTH!!
As a new feature to the Smart Gallery website and blog we are going to be featuring a section for an ‘Artist of the Month’. This will give you an opportunity to gain a better insight into the artists themselves! Our carefully selected Artist of the Month for March is Contemporary Abstract Artist – Adam Hart!! Adam Hart exhibits his art in the Smart Gallery with much success and has proven to be a hugely popular artist over the last few years! Adam has also exhibited his work in various exhibitions across the UK and has been featured in the sets of TV shows, within advertising campaigns for furniture companies and has recently had the honour of his exhibiting his work in a London gallery as a part of a nationwide search for talented original artists! We have recently interviewed Adam as a part of the Artist of the Month campaign………..
Q. – What is your full name? (embarrassing middle names included please!)
A. – Adam I’anson Hart (my middle name is mother’s maiden name!)
Q. – Marital Status?
A. – Young free and single!
Q. – Who or what inspires you?
A. - My inspiration comes to me from everywhere, sometimes it can be music, colour, nature, moods or simply seeing an empty wall!
Q. – When did you decide you wanted to be a full time artist?
Probably at school (age 14ish) I was drawing in most lessons to the frustration of my math’s teachers!
Q. – Where do you work?
A. – My studio is based in an old cow shed which apparently was once used as a stable for a tavern 200 years ago!
Q. – Describe a typical working day.
A. - Mornings are usually researching, contacting clients and galleries, emailing etc, then by lunch time I head over to my studio where i start working on paintings that are underway whilst listening to the radio and drinking copious amounts of tea early evening I head back home to my dry studio where I work on the detailing finishes to new paintings.
Q. – If you weren’t an artist what job would you do?
A. – That’s a tricky one! I’ve never really thought about it, I’ve always been involved creatively in one way or another.
Q. – What is your greatest achievement both privately and professionally?
A. – Winning a Royal Television Award for the film I made at university was a proud moment, but I still think my proudest moment has yet to come
Q. – Do you have any pets?
A. – Yes… a hamster called “Dolly!” (Probably not the most manly of pets, but she has a huge customized cage that occupies most of the lounge!)
Q. – What is your favourite colour?
A. –Depends what mood I’m in.
Q. – What is your favourite food?
A. – Mexican, or anything laden with chillies!
Q. – What is your favourite drink?
A. – Well if your asking which drink could I not live without?…. well that would be TEA! Though im not a tea total…
Q. – What is your favourite car?
A. – Mercedes Maclaren
Q. – What is your favourite film?
A. – Scarface, Whistle Down The Wind or Shawshank Redemption
Q. – What is your favourite album?
A. – The Streets – Original Pirate Material
Q. – Do you have a favourite quote?
A. – “Do not go where the path may lead, instead go where there is no path and leave a trail.”
- Betrand Russel
Q. – What is the last book you read?
A. – The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins.
Q. – Do you have any bad habits (that you can admit to?!)
A. – Chewing pens, or being hazardously untidy when im working.
Q. – If a film was made about you and your life, which famous actor would most suit the role of “Adam Hart” ?
A. – Erm, Jim Carey, ha ha
Q. – What is your dream holiday?
A. – I’d love to one day visit all the wonders of the world, especially would like to witness the northern lights.
Q. – Describe yourself in 5 words….
A. – Passionate, perfectionist, innovative, analytical,…and tired.
Q. – If you were a superhero who would you be and why?
A. - Maybe Spiderman?! – flies can be my worst enemy in the studio. When I first moved into my renovated cow shed, I swept all the cobwebs from the beams on the ceiling, only to discover that flies then landed on my work when its drying! From then I have reluctantly had to live with the spiders co-operation.
